The General Electric Fanuc/VMIC VMIAC-5595 Gb/s Reflected Memory Hub assembly is a management hub designed to operate with the General Electric Fanuc/VMIC 5565 series Reflected Memory real-time networking products. When the reflected memory hub detects a loss of signal or a loss of effective synchronization mode, it can automatically bypass the port, allowing other nodes in the network to remain operational. Since fiber optic ports are enabled with small pluggable (SFP) transceivers, only the required ports need to be installed. The VMIAC-5595 SFP transceiver can be a combination of multi-mode (short range) or single-mode (long range) transceivers. This feature allows for cost savings and system optimization in small networks. For larger networks, several VMIAC-5595 components can be cascaded, allowing an array of management hubs of up to 256 nodes. Each port regenerates the serial optical signal, eliminating insertion losses and cable attenuation. Signal regeneration also reduces jitter. The RS232 port provides the ability to monitor reflected memory networks via a simple PC serial port. The Ethernet port feature allows users to monitor and control hubs from far away via a local area network (LAN) or Web browser
The VMIAC-5595 can be configured as a 19-inch 1U rack-mounted cabinet or benchtop cabinet. Universal power supplies allow operation with almost any international power standard.
When a valid synchronization mode is detected, the VMIAC-5595 automatically bypasses the port. Three leds next to each port provide a visual indication of the port’s status. Additional status indications and operating modes are available through serial or Ethernet ports.
The status information includes the detection of the installed transceiver, the detection of the signal (light), the detection of the effective synchronization mode, and the port operating speed (2Gb/s). The control register allows the channel to be bypassed based on a single valid synchronization code or the absence of multiple synchronization codes. The bypass can also be simply based on the loss of signal (light). In addition, each port can be manually forced activated or bypassed regardless of the status indicator.
