1756-OA8 I/O Configuration in the RSLogix 5000 software generates configuration data for each I/O module in the control system, including modules in the remote rack. The remote rack includes the I/O module, but not the module’s host controller. The remote rack can be connected to the controller via an EtherNet/IP network or a planned connection on the ControlNet network. During program download, the configuration data from the RSLogix 5000 software is transferred to the controller and then to the I/O module. After the configuration data is downloaded, I/O modules in the local or remote rack are ready to run immediately. However, to enable planned connections to I/O modules in the ControlNet network, you must plan the network using RSNetWorx? for ControlNet software.
