The 1746-N2 is a 32-channel digital output module for Allen-Bradley. It is a high density low current DC output module compatible for installation in any available slot in the 1746 chassis except slot 0. It provides a voltage output of 24V DC. The 1746-OB32 has 32 outputs, 16 points per common point, and its source current operates at a voltage range between 5 and 50V DC. The 1746-OB32 module absorbs 0.19A backplane current at 5V DC and provides isolation of the output circuit tested at 1500V AC for 1 minute. Its maximum signal delay time in ON mode is 0.1ms, the maximum signal delay time in OFF mode is 1ms, and the maximum circuit leakage current in OFF state is 1mA.
1746-N2 has a nominal current of 0.25A per output point at 0-60 degrees Celsius and a minimum current load of 1mA per output channel. The module has an average nominal current of 8A and an average current of 2A at each common point. In the ON state, the maximum voltage loss in the circuit is 1.2V, the current is 0.5A, the surge at each output point is 1.0A, lasts for 1ms, can be repeated every 2s, the power consumption at each point is 0.172W, and the total heat dissipation of the module is 6.45W. The 1746-N2 is a 32 (32) channel discrete input module manufactured by Allen-Bradley for the SLC 500 controller platform.
The module is primarily used to energize or drive discrete devices (such as indicators, buzzers, horns, alarms) and drive devices (such as solenos, motors, and other devices). The module has an output voltage of 24VDC and can be directly connected to the above devices if they are in the operating voltage range of 5-30VDC. If the output device is not compatible with the DC output, especially if it operates at AC voltage, the module can still be used by implementing the insertion function. The module comes with a detachable terminal (RTB), octal door label, 32 LED lights dedicated to each channel, and a color-coded module bar that displays the part number. Allen Bradley manufactured the 1746-N3 or 1492 wiring system. These connectors or wiring systems are compatible with this module to ensure proper termination and adequate wire size when used. This also prevents improper wiring from being pre-assembled and ensures that the module doors can cover the terminal wiring. Other wires can also be used, however, large sized wires will overoccupy the front panel, which will make troubleshooting difficult even if the module door is closed.
