The MVME5500 is the latest addition to MOTOROLA’s VME product line, achieving a higher level of performance in a single VMEbus slot. The MVME5500 uses the latest MPC7455 processor with line speeds of 1 GHz and above, making it ideal for data-intensive applications. The MVME5500 not only delivers faster processing power, it delivers balanced performance from the processor, memory, local bus and /0 subsystem. The powerful Marvell Discover system controller supports 133 MHZ host bus and 133 MHZ SDRAM memory bus, making it ideal for high-speed processors. To match system /0 with excellent processor performance, the MVME5500 offers dual 64-bit, 33/66 MHz PC buses, each with a -PMC station, supporting cards running at 33 or 66 MHZ. The Universe Il VME interface and PMCspan connector are isolated from the PMC site on a dedicated 33 MH PCI bus segment, so both PMC sites are able to operate at 66 MHz. The MVME5500 also offers a Gigabit Ethernet interface, a -10/100BaseTX Ethernet interface, and a two-line port. All of this adds up to a well-balanced set of high-performance subsystems for unmatched performance. The MVME5500 series is the first to meet the needs of original equipment manufacturers serving the defense and aerospace, industrial automation, and medical imaging segments, and customers seeking to apply “technology updates” while maintaining backward compatibility with their existing VMEbus infrastructure can upgrade to the MVME5500 Series and take advantage of enhanced performance features.
