The PI3381-Tricon’s dual redundant battery pack is located on the front side of the rack backplane, next to the I/O expansion port. In the event of a power failure, these lithium batteries are able to hold data and programs for a cumulative retention time of six months, so Tricon recommends replacing the batteries every five years (lithium batteries), or after they have been used for six months.
In a normal environment, both POWER modules are working, each supplying power to the Tricon, when only the PASS and Power indicators are ON, and either power module can be fed to the rack alone for a certain amount of time. The power module can be replaced online, which is considered as hot backup.

A LOAD/FUSE error occurred in one of the Digital Output (DO) modules. – A module is missing somewhere in the system. – One main processor or I/O module in the host subrack is faulty.
An online I/O module in the extension rack is faulty. If there is a branch fault in an I/O module in an expansion rack but continues to function correctly or transfers control to hot spare, the frame alarm does not activate. – The main processor has detected a system failure. In this case, both alarm contacts may be activated without the corresponding module failure. – I/O bus cables between racks are incorrectly installed (for example, cables from Branch A are accidentally connected to Branch B) Tricon RS-485 expansion bus port
