The VMIVME-2540 was developed and produced by General Electric’s Industrial Automation production family. These models were subsequently purchased by Abaco Systems. The series is called VMIC/GE Fanuc boards and is designed for several applications in industrial lines, such as CPU management and input/output communication.
The VMIVME-2540 is one of the specific modules of the VMIC/GE Fanuc board, equipped with functions as an intelligent counter controller. The device can count up to 4 gigabit events. It is equipped with a series of 24 discrete output channels that can be programmed with various onboard jumper module options. These jumpers are capable of operating at a wide range of extreme voltage levels.
The 24 output channels are designed to provide 12-bit resolution. They are capable of output and absorption of up to 10 mA at rates of +/ -10 V.
For off-line testing with the VMIVME-2540, the analog input is designed to be disconnected from the external circuit.
The VMIVME-2540 module is designed with a VMEbus slave interface that provides 4, 8, 16 or 24-channel digital signal measurement and signal generation capabilities. These possible measurement and signal output functions are applied by a set of integrated system timing controllers and a series of associated interface logic.
