The 1756-RM2 is an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix redundant module with enhanced capabilities for speeds up to 1000 Mbps.
The 1756-RM2 module provides the best scanning performance when paired with the 1756-L7x controller in both enclosures. For cross loads, the 1756-RM2 uses redundant fiber optic ports with no single point of failure. During channel switching, the processing chassis stays synchronized, while scan times can experience a delay of about 10 milliseconds. It has enhanced security features with interference-free diagnostics.
Redundant modules refer to some components of the system that can be reconfigured. When the system fails, the redundant components step in and take over the work of the faulty components, thereby reducing the system fault time.
Redundant modules are also widely used in power supply systems. For example, QUINT
